Mr. Johnnie Kirkland viewing will be held one hour prior the service, at Center Missionary Baptist Church, Hwy 173, Newville, AL on Monday, May 4, 2020; graveside service will be follow at the Church Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Mr. Johnnie Kirkland, transitioned home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 1, 2020 at the age of 82.
Born and reared in Newville, AL Johnnie Frank was the fourth child of Deck and Alice Kirkland, who preceded him in death. As a child, he attended Newville Rosenwald School. He was a hard, conscientious employee, having worked at Deep South Construction, Dothan Oil Mill, West Point Pepperell and Sony.
Johnnie Frank could be found studying his Bible Most Mornings after breakfast, or completing word searches in the living room. An avid sports fan, he spent most of his time at the games of Headland Rams, often attending practices and spring training, He loved baseball the most, rarely missing any inning of an Atlanta Braves game. Johnnie Frank was an active member of Center Missionary Baptist, serving as Deacon over finance until his health declined. He was faithful member of Polar Star Lodge #481 for 51 years, serving as treasurer for more than 30 years. He loved listening to gospel music and playing dominoes.
Johnnie Frank eloped and married the love of his life and Proverbs 31 wife, Mary Jim (Davis) on August 27, 1960. He lived most proud of their children, Anthony Davis (Pamela), Joseph Kirkland (Teresa Rogers); Mark Kirkland (Lorraine), Wayne Kirkland (Jackie), Scott Kirkland (Pamela), Sheila Powell (John), Wendy Howard (Greg), LaRhonda Kirkland and Amy Smith (Mark); thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Hamilton (George) and Mealie West (James Jr.) in-laws, cousins, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and one best friend: Rufus Feggins.
