Mrs. Jewel Chapman, age 82, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020.
Drive through visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10 AM at Union Hill Church Cemetery in Cottonwood, Alabama.
Jewel was born on October 5, 1937 in Cottonwood, Alabama to the late Mammie "Watson" Caphart and Aaron Caphart. She was one of their five siblings.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and attended Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama. She was a graduate of Grimsley High School.
Jewel was employed by the Perdue Farm Plant in Dothan, Alabama until the declining of her health and retirement. Jewel was a loving, kind and caring woman who would do anything for anybody. She loved her family dearly. Her smile and her sweet voice would light up a room.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving daughter: Stephanie Chapman; two brothers: Samuel Damell Caphart and Reverend J.F. Caphart; three sisters: Lena Mae Caphart, Annie Dean Caphart and Helen "Moore" Caphart.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: John Chapman, Jr.; daughter: Brenda "Stephens" Chapman; son: Willie David Chapman; two grandsons: Jerome Chapman, Sr. and Devontruis Chapman; three granddaughters: Deja Lashay Green, Alexus Chapman and Mercedes Chapman; one great grandson: Jerome Chapman, Jr.; two great granddaughters: Mayla Leigh Chapman and Jalice Armani Cook; her loving sister: Maggie Caphart; and all of her other relatives and friends of the family as well.
Jewel had a special friend, for many years, that was very dear to her heart, the late Wilbert Dean Watson; and also a granddaughter-in-law: Charity Brawner, who she loved as her own.
