Mr. Jessie James Riggins was born on July 9, 1957 to G.L. Riggins and Mary Moore Riggins.
Jessie graduated from Dothan High School in 1975. In 1979, he joined the United States Army National Guard. During his 29 years of service, he served during the Desert Storm Conflict and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He retired from Sony Corporation after 25 years of service. After retiring, he went full time to listening to his favorite music while restoring his 1960 GMC pickup truck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings: Minnie and Nitha.
On May 20, 2021 he entered eternal rest. And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me: "Write blessed are the dead that die in the Lord from henceforth, Yea, saith the spirit that they may rest from their labor, and their works follow them." Revelation 14:13.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife: Sandra; five children (four daughters and one son) Tara Liles, Jessica (Jeffery) Barber, Sophia Riggins, LaShayla Jackson and Shaber Wimberly; six grandchildren: Timothy (Shannon) Johnson, Alikzay Riggins, Jahaziel Ingram, Ayonnie Riggins, Nyla Noble and Alana Hall; six sisters and two brothers: Martha (Bernard) Venable, Barbara McDaniel, Lessie (Ricky) Gadsen, Brenda Bailey, Teri Bailey, Liz Bailey, Terry Moore, and Thomas (Jackie) Bailey; brother-in-law: Dwane (Robin) Jackson; sister-in-law: Gilda Jackson; five great grandchildren; God Mother: Eva Jewel Glanton; devoted aunts: Gertha Glover, Rose Nix, Liz Murray, Avoirl Summerville, Winnie Mae, Nellie Gray Riggins, Christine Riggins; devoted uncles: Willie Thompson, Mack Arthur, and Jerry Lewis; devoted friends: Leslie (Brenda) Sheridan, Randy (Norman) Govan and Sheila Salter; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
