James Wesley King, Sr. was born January 23, 1954, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late J.D. and Mae Dell King.  He was the eldest of ten children.

A bright student and talented athlete, his talent and passion for basketball gained him a full scholarship to Wallace College and later Lander College (University) in Greenwood, South Carolina; where he still holds the season scoring average of 23.7 points per game during the 1974-75 season.  Returning to Dothan, he worked in the Dothan public schools.  James later worked for many years alongside his father for Covan and North American moving company.

"And After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.  To him be the dominion forever and ever." I Peter 5:10-11

A living testimony of God's unwavering beneficence he overcame any obstacles, and he devoted himself to the service of God.  He was an active member of Total Restoration Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor, and friend, Pastor Fred McClain.  There, he was affectionately known as "Brother King".  He could be found, many days and nights, doing work for the church and its members, as well as serving in the Dothan Community.

He departed this life on February 2, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents: J.D. and Mae Dell King; his sisters: Sharon Renee King, Amy King and Donna King; and his son: James W. King, Jr.
