Mr. James Carthon, age 65, of New York, Bronx, departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2020; Drive through viewing will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 3-5 PM at the funeral home; Graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020 10:00 AM at the Jerusalem Cemetery in Gordon, Alabama; under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care"
James Edward carthon was born on January 19th 1955 to the late Charlie Redding and Oneal Carthon.
James was born in Donaldsonville, Georgia and was later raise in Dothan and Ashford Alabama. James graduated from High School in Alabama and would take Summer trips in NYC to visit his mother Oneal Carthon.
There is where he met Janice Register and they had their first child Corey Carthon. A few years later he met and married Patricia Carthon and became a loving step father and father in general to Shawn Bryant, and Nicole and Martin Douglas. They had two more children Maurice and Jasmine Carthon.
He worked for New Star Brass and Bronze Works in Brooklyn New York as a talented Blacksmith for 8 years before retiring.
He was a loving father, grandfather and motivational speaker to his kids when life would beat them down. An Old Western Movie Fan. A Southern Hunter. A Star Trek connoisseur. And Great Cook!
He is preceded in death by his father; Charlie Redding, his mother; Oneal Carthon, his step son; Shawn Bryant; and his wife; Patricia Carthon.
He leaves to cherish the loving warm and proud memories, 5 children Corey, Nicole, Martin, Maurice, and Jasmin; three grandchildren; two siblings: Ronald Carthon and Cheryl; one great aunt: Lucile; one sister and brother in law; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
