James Larry Banks, Jr., affectionately known as Larry to those who knew him best, transitioned from this life to the next on October 3, 2024, after a journey filled with love, laughter, and the indomitable spirit of a man who cherished every moment. Born on August 18, 1979, in Dothan, Alabama, Larry's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one person can have on the world around them.
Larry's early years were spent under the warm Alabama sun, where he attended Dothan City School and proudly graduated from Northview High School in 1997. His educational journey laid a strong foundation for his future, one where his infectious smile and can-do attitude would become his signature. Larry's career path led him to the construction and restaurant industries, where his work ethic and charisma made him a beloved colleague and a friend to many.
As a devoted member of the Stringer Street African Methodist Episcopal Church, Larry's faith was a cornerstone of his life. It was this faith that guided him and gave him the strength to face each day with courage and optimism. His love for football was only matched by his love for his family and friends, with whom he shared countless hours of joy and camaraderie.
Larry's life was enriched by the love and support of his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Foy and Banks, and Carl and Minnie McCray, who had instilled in him the values of kindness and respect that he carried throughout his life. His parents, Larry and Linda Banks, were pillars of strength and love for him, and their bond was unbreakable. Larry's brothers, Lawrence and Lance, shared not only a familial connection but a deep friendship that was evident to all who knew them.
The light of Larry's life was his fiancée, Ms. Brittany Lynn, and her daughters, Savannah and Raelyn, who adored him. Larry's role in their lives was not just as a partner to Brittany but as a figure of love, laughter, and guidance to her daughters. His ability to make each day brighter and each challenge seem smaller will be a cherished memory for them.
Larry's love extended beyond his immediate family to his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends. Each relationship was unique, each interaction filled with the genuine care and attention that only Larry could provide. His laughter was contagious, his support unwavering, and his presence a source of comfort and joy.
James Larry Banks, Jr.'s life was a beacon of light in the lives of those he touched. As we bid him farewell, let us honor his memory by living as he did—with love, with passion, and with an unwavering belief in the goodness of each day.
