Jacqueline "Jackie" Young, a cherished soul known for her loving nature and friendly demeanor, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, at the age of 59.
Jackie was a lifelong resident of Dothan, Alabama, the place where she was born on January 1, 1965, to her late parents, Jack and Eula Young.
She departed this life in the same town that she loved and called home, surrounded by the warmth of familiar places and the love of her family.
She attended local public schools, where she not only excelled in her studies but also in forming lifelong friendships. Jackie's early years in Dothan were filled with the joy and challenges of growing up in a household with five brothers. Jackie's passion for carpentry, construction, and roofing was ignited by her father, from whom she learned the intricacies of the trades. As the only girl among her siblings during those formative years, she developed a resilience and skill set that would serve her well throughout her life.
She leaving a tangible legacy of her work in the homes and hearts of those she helped. Her love for God was evident in her daily life, and she firmly believed in His love for her. Jackie's spirit was infectious; she was the kind of person who never met a stranger and could light up any room with her presence. Her sense of humor was particularly memorable during friendly games of spades, where she was known for her playful banter and laughter.
Sadly, Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Princess "Nessy" Young, and eight of her brothers, including Ricky Young and Larry Young. Her memory will be forever held in the hearts of her surviving family members. She leaves behind her daughter, Felicia Bowick; her son, Christopher Young, both of Dothan; her sisters, Tammie (James) Young and April Young, also of Dothan; and her brothers, Jerry Young and Terry Young, whose lives were deeply enriched by her presence.
Jackie's legacy also lives on through her aunt, Mamie Jewel Thompkins of Tampa, Florida; her four grandchildren, Dre'Quan Bowick, Kaydence Bowick, Tyuanna Bryant, and Titianna Bryant; and her great-granddaughter, Malaya Bowick, all of whom she adored. Her great-niece, Mariah "Riah J" Glanton, also held a special place in her heart, along with her second mother figure, Mrs. Betty Trawick, and her close and special friends, Mary Lois "Bama" Ward and Hersey Patterson. Her close cousin, Gene Bryant and close friend: Valerie Reeves-Adeniran, will miss her dearly.
Jackie's life was a testament to her passionate spirit and her ability to forge deep and lasting connections with those around her. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many friends who were blessed to know her. Jackie's impact on her community and the lives she touched will be remembered fondly by all.
As we say goodbye to Jacqueline "Jackie" Young, we celebrate a life lived with an abundance of love and passion. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Jackie's story is not one of an ending but a lasting influence that will continue to resonate through the generations of her family and the many lives she touched.
