Irma Gandy Life and Times

Irma Dell was born on October 9, 1950, in Clopton, Alabama, to Raymond Robert Scott and Elois Tullis Frazier.  She was raised in Dothan, Alabama where she received her early education and graduated from Carver High School in 1967.  Continuing her pursuit of higher education, she attended Wallace Community College.

Irma Dell dedicated her life to service, education and caring for others.  She was employed with the Dothan City Schools for more than 20 years, where she served as both a Librarian and a teacher’s aid at Carver Magnet School.  Her warmth, patience and encouragement touched the lives of countless students and teachers.  After her years in education, she continued serving the community through her work at Healthsouth (Encompass), where she worked as a receptionist for many years, and became known for her kindness and professionalism.

Irma Dell was a woman of strong faith, gentle spirit, and generous heart.  She believed in the power of education, compassion and faith to uplift those around her.  Her smile and positive outlook brightened every room she entered.  Irma Dell was a lifelong member of Parks Chapel AME Church.  In her spare time, Irma Dell enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She will be remembered for her loving nature, steady strength, and devotion to her family and faith.

Irma Dell was proceeded in death by her parents: Raymond Robert Scott; Elois and Waymond Frazier

She leaves to cherish her memory: Children:  Mohandas M. Martin (Barbara), Augusta, GA;  Veagas D. Jackson (Raymond), Fort Knox, KY; Wanda Akins, New Iberia, LA; Yolanda Akins, Dothan, AL. Grandchildren:  Gabrielle Williams, Miles Akins, Montrice Akins, Morgan McCoy, Olivia Martin, Destin Martin, Faith Akins, Brianna Carter, Tyler Carter and Michael Akins; Great-Grandchild: Gavin Akins; Best Friend Forever: Cheryl Stringer-Bruner; Two Aunts:  Clara Beacham, Dothan, AL &, Brunetta Robinson, Newark, NJ, A host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Bonus Family:  Anis Scott and two sisters Angel Anderson and Deborah Hernandez.
