Hattie Jewell Jones

Ms. Hattie Jones, age 87, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Monday, August 24, 2020.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM at Bible Way Ministries C.O.O.L.J.C., 2848 Denton Road Dothan, Alabama 36303.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Hattie Jewell Montgomery Jones was born January 3, 1933 in Shorterville, Alabama to the late James C. Montgomery and Clora Hayes Montgomery.  She was the oldest of four siblings.

She attended Henry County Public Schools and Dothan City School.  She married the late Willie C. Jones, Sr. and this union was blessed with one son, the late Willie C. Jones, Jr.

Hattie moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she lived for several years before returning to Dothan.

Hattie retired from Southeast Medical Center (Southeast Health), where she was employed as a Nurse's Aide in the Nursery.  Hattie also worked for several doctors after retirement as a babysitter.  Hattie truly enjoyed her job in the nursery and taking care of children.

"Oh taste and see that the Lord is good:"; while living in Newark, she joined Way of the Cross Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Upon returning to Dothan, she joined Miracle Temple Church of our Lord Jesus Christ and later joined Bibleway Ministries Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Hattie was always faithful in her memberships until her illness disabled her.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: James Edward Montgomery and Willie Earl Montgomery.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted and loving sister: Sallie M. Montgomery Jeter; grandchildren: Herbert Williams (Claudette) and Shavon Jones; four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Thelma Montgomery and Sudella Montgomery; brother-in-law: Tony Jones; two aunts: Ermester Farmer Whiters and Minnie B. Farmer; God family: Allen and Mary Lynn Parker and children; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
