Gregory Jackson Life and Times

GREGORY EUGENE JACKSON was born on April 12th, 1963, in Dothan, Houston County, Alabama. Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Charles Jackson.

He matriculated through the Dothan City School System, attending Junior High School at Carver Junior High School, and High School at Dothan High School. A gifted athlete, Gregory lettered in varsity basketball throughout junior and senior high school. Upon reaching adulthood, Gregory enlisted in the United States Military, serving in the Army. He completed two terms of duty overseas in Germany, and after a final term stateside, was honorably discharged from military service in the late 1980’s. Service-connected injuries from his service in the military compromised his subsequent ability to work full-time, but Gregory spent his life advocating for the disability and benefits rights of many veterans in Alabama and Florida. Gregory successfully administered veterans’ claims of various kinds and nature for many who had issues with service-connected disabilities, and became a sought-out advocate for those who had difficulty maneuvering the complicated
procedures of the Veterans Administration. His lifelong dream was to create housing opportunities for homeless veterans.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted fiance’, La’Shonda McLeod, a Mother, Mary Grant Jackson, a doting daughter, Tabri Marshall (Ken), loving grandchildren, William and Keoni, siblings, Ramona J. Bryant, Ericka Jackson, Arthur Bernard Reed, Charlann Jackson Sanders Honor (Clarence, III), Kevin R. Jackson, Joseph F. Jackson (Mary Ellen), Durrell R.
