Gary Peoples Life and Times

Gary Leonard Peoples - a shining example of love and resilience within his community - Born in Slocomb, Alabama, on July 16, 1975, to Altomease Peoples and the late Willie C. Peoples, Sr. Gary's formative years were deeply embedded in a tight-knit community that molded him into the extraordinary individual he ultimately became. His life exemplified the significance of family, faith, and dedication to service.

Gary's formative years in Slocomb were characterized by a deep engagement in sports and active participation in the community. He is a distinguished alumnus of both Slocomb Elementary and High School, where he demonstrated exceptional skills in basketball and football. His involvement in a variety of clubs and organizations, including: FFA, FBLA, VICA, and BASIC, along with numerous other extracurricular activities, highlighted his leadership abilities and dedication to achieving excellence. Gary's enthusiasm for sports was ignited at an early age with his participation in little league football on the Jets team, and it further developed through basketball, where he cultivated his skills in teamwork and perseverance.

Throughout his life, Gary was profoundly engaged with his church, Countyline Missionary Baptist Church. He held the esteemed position of Deacon, lent his voice to the male chorus, and imparted knowledge in Sunday School under the leadership of Pastor James Bernard Dawsey and First Lady Annie Dawsey. Gary's spiritual mentorship and guidance left an indelible mark on the lives of many, spanning both the young and the elderly.

Following his graduation from high school, Gary chose to emulate his father's path, embarking on a distinguished career in long-haul trucking, where he became a revered figure within the trucking sector. For an impressive span of 26 years, he adeptly traversed the highways as the Owner and Operator of his thriving enterprise, G&NXpress, LLC. His unwavering dedication to his profession was paralleled only by his deep commitment to his family and community. Ultimately, Gary made the decision to sell his company to prioritize what truly mattered to him: being a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. During the time leading up to his untimely departure, Gary was engaged with AmeriGas Corporation, situated in Marianna, Florida.

Gary's affection for his community was unmatched. He was a gentleman who never encountered a stranger and is now a guardian angel among us, whether on foot or behind the wheel. His generous heart embraced everyone, and his smile had the power to illuminate any space. Gary's presence, love, guidance, and wisdom were invaluable treasures. What we will miss the most is his radiant smile that could brighten any room.

Gary was predeceased in eternal repose by his father, Willie C. Peoples, Sr.; his sister, Brenda Taylor; his brother, Marcus Wayne Peoples; and a beloved grandmother, Mary L. Dixon.

Gary's legacy and life journey are deeply valued by his adoring family, which includes his wife of 21 joyful years, Kimberly Nicole Peoples, with whom he experienced steadfast love and partnership. Together, they cultivated a family that truly represented warmth and unity, comprising their sons: Tyler Williams, Garrison Peoples, and Nicholas Peoples; their bonus daughter and son: Alexis Lett and Tevin (Shelby) Johnson; along with his grandson, Khalil Z. Williams; and three bonus grandsons: Jett, Adonis King, and Ivory.

He also leaves his cherished memories with his devoted mother, Altomease Peoples; his siblings: Elder Tyrone Peoples, Elder Willie C. (Jackie) Peoples, Jr., and Bishop Richard Bernard (Janice) Peoples, Kenneth Peoples, Diana (Bruce) Myles, Michael Peoples, Kimberly (Darryl) Peoples-Knight, and sister-in-love, Leslie Peoples.
