Fredy Holmes, age 75, of Abbeville, Alabama passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022.
Visitation will be Friday, June 10, 2022 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 12 PM at Mary Magdalene Baptist Church, 167 Girard Street, Abbeville, Alabama 36310.
Burial will immediately follow the service at St. Peter Cemetery in Abbeville, Alabama.
Fredy Lewis Holmes, son of Ruben Manders and Ola Mae Holmes was born June 4, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.
He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at North View Baptist Church in South Hill, Virginia.
He worked as a farmer from the ages of 9-16. He migrated to Newark, New Jersey were he worked as a Tailor at Style Craft Men's and Boy’s Clothing for 20 years. After 20 years of being a Tailor, he chose a different career path where he trained and worked for Lyons Veteran Administration Medical Center in Lyons, New Jersey as an Environmental Specialist until he retired and relocated to Abbeville, Alabama.
Fredy enjoyed working on cars as a hobby for many years.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Richard Edwards Holmes, Sr., Alice Calhoun, Gloria Thompson, George Washington Holmes and Will Rodgers Holmes; and one great grandson: Xavier DaShawn Brown.
He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Glory, of 50 years; his children: Kimberly Carter(Jerome), Rockeem and Sean Holmes; his granddaughter: LaShonda D. Brown (Milton); great grandchildren: Alicia, Jaylen, Antonio Lewis and Promise Brown; brothers Clarence Holmes (Erma) and Arthur Holmes (Shirley); sister and brothers-in-law: Essie Stevens (Tony), Denore Lynn (Gwendolyn), Donald Lynn, Earnestine Pattman (James) and Jeffrey Lynn.
Fredy Lewis Holmes touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
