On September 17, 1919, in Pike County, Alabama, God blessed Jay Terrell Harvey and Mittie Beatrice Griffin-Harvey with a beautiful, sweet, and loving angel who they named Frances Ella. She accepted Christ at an early age.
Later in life she met and married Willie Henry Mullins, and from this union they were blessed with eight children. After many years Frances (affectionally known as Madear and Fannie Mae) and Willie divorced, but they remained friends.
She then relocated to New York, where after a few years she met and married David Johnson and became mother to his four children. After residing in Corona, NY for many years where she became a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church and the Matrons there.
She was a dedicated and faithful member at Mt. Horeb Baptist until the loss of her husband David in 1983. she then relocated back to Dothan, Alabama where she joined Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and became a member of the Matrons. She remained a dedicated and faithful member until her health began to fail.
Frances enjoyed bowling, fishing, and sewing. She became a member of the Starscope Bowling League and received several accolades.
She is preceded in death by her first husband: Willie Mullins and her second husband: David Johnson; also by four of her children: Lorenza Mullins, Loretta Mullins-Williams, Larry Johnson and Michael Johnson; two son-in-laws: Harvey (Buck) Saffold and Pedro (Pete) Myrill; two grandchildren: Robert Redden and Jermaine Wade; two great grandchildren: Michael Saffold and Irving Montgomery, Jr.; three sisters: Doris Jean (James) Coleman, Bobbie Morris, Raynella Frazier; and her only brother: Randolph Frazier.
She is survived by her six children from her first marriage: Gainsetta Myrill, Peggy Snell, Mittie (Johnny) Barber, Priscilla (Henry) Redden, William (Janice) Mullins and Harvey (Soungia) Mullins; two of her children from her second marriage: Kevin Johnson and Althea (Gene) Johnson-Stark; a daughter-in-law: Michelle (Larry) Johnson; thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren; and thirty-five great great grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, who she loved dearly: Alvin (Raynella) Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
