Felix Thomas Life and Times

Mr. Felix Thomas, age 84, a previous resident of Headland, Alabama passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 11 AM at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Felix Thomas was born in Headland, Alabama on March 2, 1936 to the late Clayton and Selfie Lee Thomas.  He was the sixth child born out of fifteen.

He met and married Donnie Lee Patterson until her passing on November 10, 1997.  They were united for 38 years.  Felix was a loving and devoted Husband.

The Thomas family moved to Indian River over 61 years ago, making Gifford, Florida their home. He became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Gifford, serving as a Deacon, Chairman over Finance and he sang with the Male Chorus.  

He was a very good cook and known for his good collard greens, dressing, pound cakes and roast.  Felix was employed at Hale Grove for 50 years until he retired.  He always made sure his family and friends would have fruits, whether he brought or sent them.

He loved being surrounded by family and friends, talking and laughing about the good times.  He will always be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.  

Felix was preceded in death by one son: Felix Butler; three sisters: Lugene McGlown, Alberta Wright, Essie Leonard and one brother: Clayton Thomas, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son: Tony Butler of Dothan, Alabama, four grandchildren, five great grands, five sisters: Mable Simpson of Melbourne, Florida, Betty Hamilton of Cocoa, Florida, Ophelia Walker, Mellinee Walker and Mary Thomas of Lakewood, New Jersey; two brothers: Wade Thomas (Bernastine) of Dothan, Alabama and Jeremiah Thomas of Gifford, Florida; two sisters-in-law: Catherine Smith of Tallahassee, Florida and Betty J Neely of Augusta, Georgia; one brother-in-law: M.C. Patterson of Dothan, Alabama; two special friends: Deacon L. Ham and Charles Hughs of Gifford, Florida; a special niece: Susie McGlown of Palm Bay, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives that loved him dearly.
