Everlene Thompson Life and Times

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”

God chose the season to plant the seed of Everlene Thompson.  He entrusted that seed to be born to the late Deacon Forster and Deaconess Bernice Sistrunk Thompson on March 13, 1959.

Everlene matriculated in the Dothan school system.  She joined and was baptized at the New Maranda Baptist Church at a young age.  In 1970, the Thompson family relocated to Rochester, NY and she joined the Aenon Missionary Baptist Church (AMBC).  She graduated from Monroe High School in 1977.  She was a member of Upward Bound which prepared students for college and to succeed in life.

Everlene attended Tougaloo College and she received an accounting degree from Rochester Business Institute.  She was employed by Rochester Gas & Electric initially in the mailroom and was promoted to Administrative Support where her career spanned over 40 years.  At AMBC, she continued to serve as a Missionary and with the Nursery Ministry.  She was a devoted and committed participant of the Adult Women’s Sunday School class.  She thoroughly enjoyed working in her garden.  She welcomed new members to the family by knitting blankets for them.

Being the 1st grandchild, her paternal grandfather, Daddy Bill, gave her the nickname, “Dollbaby”.  She was also affectionately known as:  “Lene”, “Everlaskie”, “Fraggle Rock”, “Auntie”, “Sistah”, “Flene” and “Auntie ET”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Anthony Sr. and her grandparents:  Jessie and Cora Bell Sistrunk & Foster and Evrie Lee Thompson.

Everlene leaves to cherish her loving memories:  one son, Daryl Daurice Thompson, Rochester, NY; sisters, Yolonda, Richmond, VA, Patricia, Rochester, NY, Felicia Renee, Dothan, AL; brothers, Foster III, Dothan, AL, Curtis, Chicago, IL; nieces, Robbie – Chicago, Nikkara – Rochester, Okeeta – Richmond, Danielle – Dothan, Nicole – Chicago, LaKeithia - Abbeville; nephews, Foster IV – Rochester, LaMarcus – Knoxville, Anthony Jr. – Richmond, David (DJ) – Dothan, Joshua Foster – Richmond; six great nieces and nephews; 2 uncles, Harry Sistrunk and Edward Sistrunk, Dothan; 4 aunts, Maggie Taylor, Montgomery, Ethell T.
