Ethel Daniels Life and Times

Ethel Lean Dent Daniels, a revered matriarch and a symbol of love and resilience, departed this life serenely on August 7, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on January 23, 1955, in Union Springs, Alabama.

Ethel was the cherished daughter of Robert and Katherine Dent, raised in the embrace of a large family alongside her twenty-one siblings.

Ethel's existence was characterized by unwavering devotion and commitment to her family and community. She entered into Holy Matrimony with her late husband, Jonah Mac Daniels, Sr., at a tender age, and together they cultivated a family rich in love and respect. Despite enduring the profound sorrow of losing her parents, her husband, and her son Jonah Mac Daniels, Jr., Ethel's spirit remained resolute, and her legacy thrived through her surviving children.

Ethel stood as a cornerstone of the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Slocomb, Alabama, where she diligently contributed her efforts on the Usher Board, raised her voice in the choir, and showcased her culinary skills in the kitchen. Her steadfast faith and dedication served as a beacon of inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

During her moments of leisure, Ethel discovered delight in the finer things in life. A passionate Bingo enthusiast and a devoted supporter of Alabama football, she thrived on the thrill of the game. These cherished activities reflected her zest for life and the camaraderie she shared with her friends and family.

Ethel departs to cherish the invaluable memories she created with her beloved children: Catherine Yvonne (Kenneth) Barnes, Robert Daniels, and Donald Ray Daniels.

Her affection transcended her immediate family, embracing her cherished daughters: Jessetta Green, Margret Moore, and Julie Young, along with her fourteen grandchildren, who filled her life with boundless joy and pride. She served as a beacon of guidance to Tray Robinson, Jonah Daniels III, Jordan Dashawn Daniels, Jah'lisa Leora Daniels, Eikria Rasheem Daniels, Jaquan Daniels, Keion Dimitric Grider, Rickel Daniels, Devontae Isaiah Daniels, Kendell Nevah Ward, Antonio Dwan Anderson, Jr., Precious Jade Na'Shay Anderson, and Destiney Javea Daniels; and her two special grandsons: O’shawn Lindsay and Mi’kel Whigham.

Her beloved siblings: Katie (Daniel) Hill, David Lee Dent, and Kaponia Bigham, all residing in Slocomb, Alabama, along with Jesse Mitchell from Orlando, Florida, Lueester Jeffery of Bartow, Florida, Deloris (James) Bouiye, Bobby Wade of Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlie Dent of Elba, Alabama; together with her cherished god-daughter, Jazmine Ramsey, and a multitude of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members will forever keep Ethel's memory nestled in their hearts.
