Eric Carter Life and Times

Mr. Eric Carter, age 52, of Ozark, Alabama passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 4 PM to 6 PM at J.L. Trawick Memorial Chapel, 1048 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery, 531 US 231, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

Eric Alyyn Carter, the eldest son of the late Deacon Curtis E. Carter and Jewell Smiley Carter, was born on May 28, 1969 in Montgomery, Alabama.

In August of 1973, at the tender age of three, Eric traveled with his parents to Grafenwohr, Germany.  He began his early childhood education in the American school on the military base.  After his dad was transferred back to the US, Eric attended several different schools: Daleville Elementary in Daleville, Alabama; Schamburg Elementary in Schamburg, Illinois; Elk Grove Village Elementary in Elk Grove Village, Illinois; Charles Henderson Jr. High in Troy, Alabama; East Gate Middle School in Ozark, Alabama; and Carroll High School in Ozark, Alabama.

The summer of 1981, Eric accepted Christ as his personal Savior, and united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Linwood, Alabama.

Upon completion of High School, Eric continued his education at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama.  There, he chose a career in music education.  He was a member of the Marching Band.

After leaving the university, Eric began his career in the truck driving industry, which spanned from 2003 through 2021.  Eric loved the open roads and often times spoke of feeling free while driving across country.

Eric Alyyn Carter transitioned this life on October 2, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida.

Eric leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters: Madison of Mobile, Alabama and Avaisa of Decatur; mother: Jewell Carter of Ozark, Alabama; one brother: Steven (Jenny) Carter of Dothan, Alabama; one nephew: Jackson; four uncles: James Carter of Troy, Alabama, Emmet Carter of Detroit, Michigan, Vince (Theresa) Carter and Derrick (Ruby) Carter both of Troy, Alabama; four aunts: Lee and Ida both of Niagara Falls, New York, Carolyn Carter Smith of Montgomery, Alabama and Patricia (James) Sparks of Detroit, Michigan.  He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of loving cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
