Mr. Eric Boykin, Jr., age 80, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 12 PM to 2 PM at the funeral home, 1048 Martin Luther King Ave, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 11 AM at Travelers Rest Cemetery in Ozark, Alabama.
Eric Arthur Boykin, Jr. was born on January 17, 1940 in Brundidge, Alabama to the late Eric A. Lorene Boykin. He joined First Missionary Baptist Church, in Ozark, Alabama, at an early age.
He attended D.A. Smith High School, where he graduated in 1958. He attended Tuskegee University, where he served in the Reserved Officer Training Corps and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, was promoted and retired at the rank of Major. Thereafter, he pursued a second career as a Test Engineer at the Boeing Company in Huntsville, Alabama. Following retirement from Boeing, Eric began playing the game he loved most and often. . . GOLF! He could be found on the "green" practically everyday.
He is survived by his loving siblings: Loretta Boykin of Parlin, New Jersey, Antionette Parker of Midland City, Alabama, Michael (Barbara) Boykin of Garland, Texas, Larry (Eva) Matthews of Dothan, Alabama and Evelyn Coston of Charlotte, North Carolina. His sister, Verdell Boykin of Parlin, New Jersey, predeceased him. He will be deeply missed by his nieces: Courtney Boykin of Garland, Texas and Jackie Parker of Ozark, Alabama; nephews: Eric Matthews of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas Matthews of Dothan, Alabama and John Parker of Saint Louis, Missouri; special cousin: Arlander "Buck" Flowers; and other relatives, friends and golfing buddies who lovingly referred to him as the GENERAL.
