Ellis Edwards Hampton, a beacon of love and family unity, passed away naturally on May 11, 2025, in his native Alabama, leaving a legacy of warmth and cherished memories. Born on October 28, 1974, in Alabama to Willie and the late Doris Hampton, Ellis's journey was one marked by compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
Ellis's life was rich with the joy of family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carolena Pagatpaton, with whom he shared thirteen years of marriage filled with mutual respect and adoration. A proud father, Ellis's legacy continues through his son Mariano and his four bonus children, Mark, Tia, and Selena, all of whom he loved as his own. His father, Willie Sr. (Murlene) Hampton of Dothan, Alabama, his two brothers, Willie Jr. (Wanda) Hampton and Earnest (Tracy) Smith of Enterprise, Alabama, and his sister, Dorothy (James) Hampton-Walker of Dothan, Alabama, remember him as a pillar of strength and guidance.
Ellis was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Hampton, his grandmothers, Ruby Lee Moore and Vera Hampton, and his four aunts, who all held special places in his heart. His passing has left a void in the lives of his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends who found in Ellis a reliable confidante and a source of joy.
The words that best describe Ellis are "loving" and "dedicated." He approached life with a gentle demeanor and a generous spirit that endeared him to all who knew him. Ellis's commitment to his family was unwavering, and his presence was a comforting and stabilizing force. The love he fostered within his family will be his most enduring legacy.
Ellis's career and hobbies were an extension of his love for life and community. He was respected by colleagues and friends alike for his integrity and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His laughter was infectious, his advice sound, and his ability to listen without judgment made him a treasured companion.
