Elizabeth Johnson Harris was born on November 23, 1940 to the late Lloyd Johnson and Lizzie Johnson Holland. After 89 years of blessings, the Lord called her home on Sunday, April 19, 2020. Lil, affectionately known to her family, was the oldest of six children. She is now celebrating, in reunion, with all of her siblings, her parents and one granddaughter.
Lil grew up and attended school in Columbia, Alabama. Eventually, she made her way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where her seamstress skills flourished. While in Philadelphia, she met and married the late Otis David Harris. From this union, four boys were born: Otis David, Jr., Perry, Louis (Stephanie) and Bruce. Lil loved her family and enjoyed family time! She participated in all their activities. She was Den Mother, taking the scouts on many field trips and spent plenty of time on the skating rink.
Years later, Lil returned to Alabama, where she spent the last 30 years of her life. She was a member of Spring Hill Church, where she worked diligently in several capacities. Lil was the Financial Secretary, she worked with the Culinary Ministry and she participated in the Wire Grass Association. Spring Hill held a special place in her heart.
Lil, later known as Big Momma to her grand kids, is survived by her four heart beats: Otis, Jr., Perry, Louis and Bruce. She also leaves to cherish her memory, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law and a host of relatives and friends. Lil is truly loved and will forever be in our hearts.
