Elijah Leonard

Mr. Elijah Leonard, age 66 of Ozark, Alabama departed this life on Sunday, April25, 2021.

Visitation will be Friday, April 30, 2021 4:00-6:00 PM at the J. L. Trawick Memorial Chapel, 1048 Martin Luther King Jr Ave, Ozark, AL.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 12:00 PM at the J. L. Trawick Memorial Chapel, 1048 Martin Luther King Jr Ave, Ozark, Alabama; under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care".

Burial will immediately follow the service at Westside Cemetery in Ozark, Alabama

Elijah Leonard was born on June 18, 1954 to the late Eldridge and Louise Leonard.

At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ and joined Greater Sardis Baptist Church.  Later,  he moved to Gary, Indiana where he joined Emmanuel Temple Apostolic.

Elijah attended and graduated from Carroll High School in 1972.  After graduation, he united in marriage to Cynthia Pujoue and from this union came two sons.  He worked at the U.S. Steel Company for over 30 years, where he retired and returned to Ozark, Alabama.

He leaves to cherish his lovely, devoted wife of 44 years: Cynthia Pujoue Leonard; two sons: Dartagnan (Louise) Leonard of Gary, Indiana and Xavier (Monica) Leonard of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren: Korey Bowens, Tylynn Leonard, and Xayana Leonard; two brothers: Arlanda (Shirleen) Sistruck and Edward (Darlene) Leonard; one sister: Lillian (Sherman) Horne; three brothers-in-law: Wendell (Cynthia) Pujoue, Darriel (Lois) Pujoue, and Wendell Maurice Pierson; one sister-in-law: Keely Pujoue Danzey; five aunts: Annette Lawrence of Merrillville, Indiana, Everee Sistrunk of Memphis, Tennessee, Grace Knight of Cedar Hill, Texas, Jewell Sistrunk of Ozark, Alabama and Mary Sistrunk of  Fort Wayne, Indiana; one uncle: Eddie Roy (Delores) Sistrunk, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
