Edwin Mickel Flowers, lovingly known as “Homer,” was born on January 4, 1953, to the late Same and Gladys Flowers. He peacefully departed this life on March 22, 2026.
Edwin dedicated many years of his life as a skilled heavy equipment mechanic. Later, he continued his service to the community working as a mechanic with Houston County Schools. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in everything he did.
Edwin had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and anything that allowed him to be close to nature. A staple in his community, Edwin was known for his kind spirit and welcoming heart – he truly never met a stranger. He showed his love through cooking and bringing people together, creating lasting memories with family, friends, and neighbors.
Edwin shared a beautiful and enduring love story with his wife, Luretha Flowers, for 47 years. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and togetherness. They especially cherished time spent with their grandchildren, pouring love and wisdom into each of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Gladys Flowers; and loved ones Tyrese Farrier, Eulalia (Jimmy) McCree, LaGara Ansico, and Malcolm Flowers; grandson: Tyrek Glenn.
Edwin leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Luretha Flowers; his children: Ornecha (Jermaine) Granger-Nash, Tyrese (Lakeesha) Farrier, Edwin Jr. (Demeka) Flowers, and Rynecca (James) Flowers; his brothers: Melvin (Hazel) Flowers and Sammy Flowers; his aunts and uncle: Tami (Rick) Neal, Eula Flowers, and Annie (James) Dawsey, WD Flowers; his brothers-in-law: Marty Ansico, Timothy (Annie) Granger, and Bobbie Granger; and his sisters-in-law: Sharon Granger, Brenda (Charlie) Nix, and Celestine Granger.
