Dorcey Henry Life and Times

Dorcey Richard Henry, known affectionately as Richard, was born March 14, 2023, in Union Springs, Alabama. He passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 12, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, CG Blue and Ethel Clyde Henry; his sister, Luella Henry; his aunt, Helen Louise Henry; and his cousins, Linda Henry and Charles Henry.

Richard is survived by his son, Edwin Richard Henry, and his devoted niece/sister, Felicia Hudson. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bruce Irvin, Bobbie Irvin, Bryan Rodgers, Ryan Rodgers, and his sisters, Pamela Rodgers and Chanavia Blue. His memory will be cherished by his three grandchildren, King Cedano, D’Ander Stevenson, and Shelsea Rivers, as well as his five devoted cousins, Brenda, Marilyn, ReGina, Harold, and Mary Helen. His longtime, devoted friend Greg King and loving friend Kim Sinckler, along with a host of many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, will miss him dearly.

Raised in Aberfoil, Alabama, Richard was a devout member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church community. As a young man, he bravely served in the United States Army for 25 years, receiving an honorable discharge in September 1983. Following his military service, Richard relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he began a new chapter working with the Cobb County Street Department. His love for driving led him to jobs with Enterprise Car Rental and as a personal cab driver.

Richard, often referred to as "Peter Roll" by his friends, was a man of many interests. He was intelligent and had a passion for good soul food, traveling, and spending precious time with his family. He was also known to enjoy long drives to Florida to watch the ocean. With a tight fist on his wallet but a heart of gold, Richard was always ready to help those he loved.

Remembered as thoughtful, passionate, and interesting, Richard's character was well reflected in the words of Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Richard's ability to make others feel loved and cherished will be his enduring legacy.

Richard's life was a testament to his strength and resilience. His family and friends will forever remember his warm smile, his robust laughter, and the love he had for them. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
