She embraced her faith at Macedonia Baptist Church in Columbia, Alabama, where she learned to see the good in everyone and treat all with equality. Her unwavering commitment to her faith was evident to all who knew her, setting a sterling example of a life lived with purpose and grace. Deborah's academic journey was marked by excellence. A proud graduate of Ashford High School in 1983, she was an active member of the Beta Club, Afro Club, and Key Club, and her dedication to her studies earned her a full academic scholarship.
