Darlyne Williams Life and Times

Darlyne Sarayne Ramsey Williams, the daughter of the late Ilean Kelley Ramsey and George Dewitt Ramsey, was born on March 1, 1961 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.

She departed this life on October 11, 2024 at Southeast Health. She will be remembered always for her angelic spirit, infectious smile, and caring demeanor. Her love for her family was unmatched and will be cherished forever by her loved ones.

Darlyne was a lifetime member of Parks Chapel A. M. E. Church, Dothan, Alabama. She was a member of the Steward Board, the Annie M. Committee chairperson. Darlyne completed her education in the Dothan City School System, graduating from Northview High School with the class of 1979. After graduation, she attended Wallace Community College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and graduated with an Associates Degree in Medical Assistant. Her desire to be a nurse was granted when she was accepted into the nursing program at UAB. She graduated from UAB with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1985 After graduating, she was employed at Flowers Hospital as a registered nurse. She also worked as Dr. William D. McLaughlin’s nurse at Digestive Health Specialists in Dothan. She later went on to work as a home health registered nurse and retired after a 25 year career with the Houston County Health Department. After retiring, her desire to care for others continued as she joined Viva Health for the next 8 years. Darlyne was a compassionate and caring nurse who devoted her life to serving others unselfishly with love, dignity, respect, and the utmost care.

On August 22, 1987, Darlyne and Rickey Williams were joined in holy matrimony at Parks Chapel A.M.E. Church. To this union, two children were born: son, Brandon Carl Williams and daughter, Brandi Sarayne Williams. Darlyne was a proud, loving and caring mother. Her love for her husband and children was unconditional. She adored Brandon and Brandi and always wanted them to put their trust in God, pray, work hard in whatever they endeavored to do, and always do the right thing. Thinking she couldn’t adore anybody more than she did her children, here comes another little bundle of joy who entered her life on April 30, 2020, her beloved grandson Brandon Carl Williams, Jr., affectionately known as B.J. (Brandon and Sha’s (wife) son). She loved B.J. dearly and enjoyed the many birthdays, vacations, ball games, and visits to Smith Station to see him. She was so happy to spend his 4th birthday with him and family at the famous Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Magic and Seaworld in April. It was a magical time and she enjoyed every moment of it.

Darlyne was preceded in death by her loving and devoted parents Ilean K. Ramsey and George D. Ramsey, her brother Irelan Dewitt Ramsey; maternal grandparents Johnnie Mae Beachem and Dan Kelley; paternal grandparents Velma Annie Perry and Hubert Ramsey; two loving aunts, Mary O. Kelley and Evelyn K. Hutchinson; a special uncle, Cary Kelley, and a devoted cousin, Edward Charles Turner.

Darlyne leaves to cherish her memories, the love of her life, husband Rickey C.
