Damon Thompson Life and Times

Damon Earl Thompson, affectionately known as “DT & Freddie” to his family and friends was born January 11, 1953, in Enterprise, Alabama, to the late Mary Frances Scott and Damon Andrew Thompson. He was the oldest child out of twelve children. God whispered I’ll never leave you nor forsake you, take up your cross and follow me, so he cast his cares on the Lord, and departed this earthly life for eternal glory on Wenesday, October 30, 2024, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.

DAMON was outgoing, fun-loving, compassionate, and family-oriented. He was well known for his big smile, kind heart, and down-to-earth personality. He was a cheerful person and a stranger to none, and whether in sickness or health, he touched the lives of all who knew him. In his free time, Damon enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing spades & dominoes, and spending time with family and friends. Two young ladies captured his heart, in his lifetime. In his courtship with Barbara Scott, he reared two sons, Damien & Dramon Thompson, and in his courtship with Linda Walker, he reared one daughter and two sons, Latora Walker, Devonte & Demund Thompson.

DAMON accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Enterprise AL, where he remained a member until his untimely death. He attended Coppinville High School and shortly after school desegregation was enacted, he transferred and graduated from Enterprise High School Class of 1970. Before becoming disabled, he worked as a laborer in various occupational fields, which included painting, carpentry, and construction. In addition, he also worked at Townsend Supply, Alfa, and the Con Agra Poultry Company in Enterprise, Alabama.

DAMON is preceded in death by his parents: the late Mary Frances Scott and Damon Andrew Thompson, and two siblings: Carolyn Scott-Chambers and Mary Jeanette Thompson.

DAMON leaves behind to cherish his memories, five loving children: Damien (Eibe) Thompson and Dramon (Bodie) Thompson both of (Enterprise, AL), Latora (Tee) Walker (Killeen TX), Devonte Thompson (Dothan, AL), and Demund Thompson (Killeen, TX). Damon also leaves behind four devoted brothers and six loving sisters to cherish all their fond memories: Ted (Dot) Thompson (Hartford, AL), Walter (Jeanette) Thompson (Columbus, GA), Moses (Lisa) Thompson (Layton, UT), Andrew (LaTonya) Thompson (Stedman, NC),  Shannon (Ricardo) Young (Phenix City, AL), Evett Gordon (Geneva, AL), Phyllis Leverette, Ira Brown, Jean (Willie) Brown, and Jane Scott-Sargent all of (Enterprise, AL). Damon will be fondly remembered by twenty-three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews who love him dearly, and a host of other relatives and friends.
