Curtis Lee Wymes

Mr. Curtis Lee Wymes of Gordan, Alabama, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the age of 62.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12 Noon at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery; 11260 East County 22 Road, Columbia, Alabama 36319  under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care."

Curtis Lee Wymes was born on July 15, 1959 to the late Deacon Sam and Ollie Wymes.  Curtis attended Columbia High School in Columbia, Alabama.  Mr. Wymes had numerous jobs, which started in his teenage years.  He was employed through the years by Showell Farms, Cooking Good, Perdue, and Wayne Farms, collectively, for 30 plus years.

After his retirement, on any given day, if you were to call and ask him "What are you doing," his response was watching tv, going for a walk, or spending time with his beloved dog, Kain.  Curtis had a contagious smile.  His favorite words were, "I'm Curtis Wymes baby!"  He was united in Holy Matrimony to Jada Wymes and to this union, one child was born: Jatoriya Wymes.

On May 21, 2022, Curtis transitioned from this life into the realms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Curtis was preceded in death by his parents: Sam Wymes, Jr. and Ollie Wymes; and brother: Leon Allen.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and caring wife of 20 years: Jada Wymes; children: Nicole Wymes of Dothan, Alabama, Catrina Wymes of Midland City, Alabama, Katronia Russaw of Columbus, Georgia, Curtis Jerome Wymes of Enterprise, Alabama, Cedrick Wymes of Ashford, Alabama; two step children: Porche McGriff of Dothan, Alabama and DuMaurya Lee of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Taeshawn Rogers, Taeveon Rogers, Cedrick Isaiah Wymes, Kaylan Russaw, Curtis J. Wymes, Jaylan Shorter, Kadence Shorter, and Julius Wymes; sisters: Betty Jackson, Chattie Mae Jackson, Annie Jean Wymes, Alberta Baker, Marggie Collins, Doris Wymes, and Emma Wymes; brothers: Charles (Angie) Rhymes, Melvin Allen, and Sam Wymes; mother and father-in-law: Mack and Shirley James; sister-in-law: Jennifer Kennedy; brothers-in-law: Jarrett Gosha, Jamaca and Jamar James; one aunt: Chattie Mae Johnson of Lakeland, Florida; a special cousin: Liz Stewart; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
