Claud was born on November 22, 1937, in Gordon, Alabama to the late Francias McGriff Hicks and Allen Hicks. Claud was raised in Gordon, Alabama but in later years she moved to New York City where she met and married her late husband John H. Barnett.
Claud was a faithful member of 24 years of service at First Union Baptist Church in Bronx, NY. Claud who was always full of vibrant energy worked several years for the New York City Board of Education before retiring and relocating to Ashford, Alabama where she became an active member at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
Claud lived as a faithful servant to the Lord until her transition to eternal life. Claud was a loving wife, and truly devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who expressed unconditional love and spiritual counsel to her children. Claud’s infectious smile radiated, and her generous heart was undeniable. Claud was a loyal friend to many, her genuine love for people and charismatic charm worn over the heart of everyone she met.
On November 1st, 2024 the Lord called Claud home to eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter: Mae Dale Jackson of Rockwall, TX; three grandchildren Ja’Net M. Jackson of Decatur, GA, Michael D. Jackson of Ashford, AL and Tiffany N. Jackson of Rockwall, TX; four great grandchildren Kayla Walker, Mason Jackson, Avery Jackson and Rainn Williams. Claud is survived by one siblings Roscoe (Carolyn) Hicks as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends who she loved very dearly. Claud is reunited in Heaven with her husband, parents and siblings.
