Mr. Christopher Columbus Holston of Dothan, Alabama passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the age of 89.
Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2022 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 11 AM at Georgette L. Scott Memorial Chapel; 814 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303 with burial immediately following at Gates of Heaven Cemetery; 2106 Starling Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303 under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care."
Christopher Columbus Holston, the son of the late Eugene and Ethel Holston, was born on June 8, 1933 in Dothan, Alabama.
Columbus was raised in Dothan, Alabama, which is where he met the love of his life: Renner Mae. He and Renner Mae were united in Holy Matrimony on January 7, 1958; to this union, four sons were born. Columbus was a devoted father to his children, whom he loved dearly.
Columbus was a church going man. He attended Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Headland, Alabama. Columbus was a devoted and beloved sheriff at the Houston County Sheriffs Office. He was also an employee at WJ Powell until he retired.
Christopher Columbus Holston departed this life on the evening of July 26, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Renner Mae Holston; daughters: Barbara Holston and Leslie Pearl Thomas; sisters: Mattie Lou Holston, Rosie Ford, Ethel Mae Holston, and Irene Holston; brothers: Dennis Bozeman, Gene Holston, Ezekiel Thomas, and James Earl Holston.
Columbus is survived by four sons: Terrance (Buni) Holston, Christopher Holston, Bruce (Makita) Holston, and Cletus Holston; grandchildren: Sheryl Renee Hall, Shjuanda Q. Thomas, Jasmine Kierra Ward, Shavala Baker, Aisha Jones, Jamal Benton, Matthew Wright, Christian Brinkley, Xavier Gibson, and Jaquez Gibson; sister: Lulo Bell Houston; a special niece: Pastor Ina Carroll; 20 great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
