Mr. Charles Clayton, age 71, of Headland, Alabama passed away Monday, July 26, 2021.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 2 PM at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, County Road 43 Clayton, Alabama 36016.
Mr. Charles Clayton was born to the late Forace "Foy" Clayton and Annie Sue Helms Clayton on August 20, 1949, in Barbour County, Alabama. He was the second of five children and the only son.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Springhill Baptist Church. He remained a faithful member until his demise.
Charles received his education from Clio Public High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he received many badges and medals, including the Vietnam Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Air Medal. Charles attended Sparks Technical College for automotive mechanic training. He was employed by the City of Abbeville, Alabama as an automotive mechanic, where he later retired.
Charles passed on July 26, 2021, at Southeast Health Medical Center. It was on this day that the God of Life gave Charles eternal rest where He promises only joy, peace, and happiness.
Charles leaves to cherish his fond memories, four sisters: Annette Cunningham of Clayton, Alabama, Melonise Anglin of Atlanta, Georgia, Carolyn Martin of Clayton, Alabama, and Ida (Ardell) Sylvester of Eufaula, Alabama; eight nieces and nephews; five great nieces and nephews; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, other relatives, friends, former coworkers, neighbors, including: Vera Wimes, classmates and fellow servicemen and women.
