Charlene Coleman (Coleman) Ray

Mrs. Charlene Coleman Ray, age 51 of Buford, Georgia passed away on August 25, 2021; drive through viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 4-6 PM at the funeral home; funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 12:00 PM at the Georgette L. Scott Memorial Chapel, 814 Headland Ave, Dothan, AL 36303; under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care". 

God sends us blessings; some big and some small.  But a Mother is truly the best gift of all.

Charlene Coleman Ray was born July 20, 1970 in Fort Dix, New Jersey.  She was the first child of two born to Joe Coleman and the late Sharon Coleman.

She attended local schools in San Diego, California.

Cooking was one of Charlene's passions, especially for holidays and special occasions.  She knew that when it came to cooking, at these times, there were certain foods that had to be included to please everyone.  Macaroni and cheese was a must no matter what else was on the menu.

She was adamant about having a clean house.  Even if she was in pain from her back or knees, cleaning was still a must.

At times she was called the "Spray Lady".  If she saw a bug, it didn't stand a chance to survive in or out of the house.  If she sprayed outside, you could smell it when you hit the corner.  She was often told she could get a job with Orkin Pest Control with no problem.

Charlene was a mentor to many in the family, at work, and other places.  So many people called her "Mama C".  She touched a lot of hearts.

On August 25, 2021, Charlene was called home to eternal rest.

Charlene was preceded in death by her mother: Sharon Coleman; her grandmothers: Annie Lee Coleman and Louise Smallwood; aunts: Betty Reese and Martha McRae; and uncle: Willie E. Coleman.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Alvin C. Ray, Jr. of Buford, GA; daughter: Tierra Chrismon of Gainesville, GA; son: Alvin C. Ray, III of Buford, GA; step-children: DeShawn (Cherelle) Henderson of San Diego, CA, Lisa Gale of Providence, RI and Al'Isha Ray of Buford, GA; six grandchildren: Kevion McMeans, Kaleb McMeans, Khalil Pittard all of Gainesville, GA, Kyndrix Ray of Buford, GA, Myles Henderson and Avery Henderson of San Diego, CA; father: Joe (Ineathia) Coleman of Dothan, AL; brother: Joel Coleman of Tallahassee, FL; step-brothers: Eric Woods of Cleveland, OH, Olie Eaglin of Houston, TX and Derrick Russell of Birmingham, AL; uncles: James (Kathy) of Dothan, AL, Johnny Coleman of Montgomery, AL, and Jimmy Smallwood of NC; aunts: Geneva Smallwood of East Hampton, NJ and Cassandra Stanton of Maple Heights, OH; brother-in-law: Donnell Albert of Ciney, Belgium; father-in-law: Alvin C. Roy, Sr. of Greer, SC; mother-in-law: Jacqueline Albert of Buford, GA; and a host of special cousins, Godchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
