Bobby Danzey Life and Times

Bobby Joe Danzey “B.J.D.”, 71 of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Marvin Lee Danzey and Delphine Danzey of Headland, Alabama.  His siblings; Jewel Maybin of Norwalk, CT and Johnnie C. Danzey of Dothan, Al.

Bobby is survived by daughter Stephanie (Glenn) Floyd of Shelton, CT Grandsons: Andrew Danzey; Jonathan and Darius Floyd.  Son Kevin Danzey (Charlotte, NC), Granddaughters: Kana Danzey (Norwalk, CT), Heaven Brown (Stamford, CT) and Maddison Brown (Mount Vernon, NY).  Brothers and Sisters, Nora Mae Grimsley, Jack (Ruby) Danzey (Dothan, AL), Christine Helms (Garner, NC); Willie Martin (Annie) Danzey and Blondell (Jake) McGlon (Dothan, AL) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bobby Joe Danzey was born in Headland, Alabama to Marvin Lee Danzey and Delphine Danzey on December 22, 1951.  He resided in Dothan, Alabama during his childhood and school years.  Soon after, he came north to Norwalk, CT with his mother, Delphine Danzey.  Over the years he worked in construction and as a lumberjack; cutting down trees for local tree removal service. Bobby was ONE OF A KIND!  He was either very quiet or very loud; no in between.  He enjoyed simple things in life such as fishing, dominoes, playing cards, socializing with his friends and watching movies.  He loved all karate, Godzilla movies and WWE wrestling; and did not want to be disturbed when watching them.  And, of course, he enjoyed his loud, fast and shiny cars.  He thought nothing of taking a long distance drive just to open them up on the road.  Back in the days, his friends in Norwalk nicknamed him BJD because he reminded everyone and anyone listening that he was Bobby Joe Danzey.  When you met him you didn’t forget him.  During family events, Bobby’s presence was well known and magnified contrary to his stature as he told stories with a very loud voice.  Laughter and comic relief was sure to follow his dramatic stories and shenanigans.  Around 2002, Bobby moved back to Alabama; some years later to Clearwater, Florida and eventually back to Alabama again where he spent his    remaining years on a creek fishing or visiting family and friends.

Our unforgettable “B.J.D.” will surely be missed by family and friends.
