Blondell Bowick Life and Times

Blondell J. Bowick, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 6, 2023, in her hometown of Slocomb, Alabama. Born on May 22, 1947, to Paul Rex Johnson, Sr., and Gladys Vickers Faulk, Blondell was a beacon of love, passion, and friendship in the lives of everyone she touched.

Blondell was a proud graduate of Geneva County Training School (GCTS) and carried her hardworking spirit into the professional world. She spent 12 dedicated years with Warner Brothers before transitioning to a long-standing career with Sony, where she worked for 27 years before retiring. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she was known for her friendly demeanor that brought people together, creating lifelong friendships with her colleagues.

Blondell was an avid lover of nature, her passion for gardening was widely known, and she could often be found outside tending to her flowers. Her love for music was infectious, and she never missed an opportunity to dance, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. A fan of Western shows, she often spent her leisure time immersed in the captivating storylines. She also had a knack for crossword puzzles, her sharp mind was always up for a challenge.

Preceded in death by her parents, Blondell is survived by her loving family: her son, Vantoniea "Tony" Bowick, and his wife, Michele, of Troy, New York; her cherished granddaughter, Tatianna Bowick of Troy, New York; her sisters, Harriett Miller, Phyllis Johnson, and Freda Carter, all of Slocomb, Alabama; and her brothers, Paul Johnson and his wife, Bobbie, of Dothan, Alabama, and Harold Johnson of Houston, Texas. Blondell also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Kimberly and David Beckwith of Slocomb, Alabama, Camillia and Damon Petty of Montgomery, Alabama, and Stevie and Norlishia Miller of Slocomb, Alabama.

Blondell's impact extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a dear aunt and cousin to many. Her special friends, Blondell Craig, Gloria Lester, and Evelyn McKissick, will remember her for her warm-hearted nature and enduring companionship. Blondell's infectious laughter and kind-hearted spirit will be deeply missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and the countless friends she made throughout her life.

Blondell J. Bowick was  woman of resilience, grace, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her zest for life and her passion for the things she loved will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy of love and friendship will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.
