The sunrise of Billy Ward was December 1, 1953 when he was born to Johnnie L. Ward and Emma Battles Ward.
His sunset was Wednesday, June 6, 2018 when he was called home by God.
He attended Cottonwood High School where he graduated in 1972. He retired after 20 years of service in the United States Army. He also retired as a corrections Officer at Venture Correctional Facility in Clayton, Alabama. At an early age, he joined Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor Ward; two brothers, Donald Ward and David Ward.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Felicia (Michael) Thomas of Dothan, AL, Andrea Ward of Montgomery, AL, and Stacey (Marcus) Taylor of Snellville, GA; six grandchildren, Zhane Thomas, Jordan Thomas, William Thomas, Deja Taylor, Malcolm Taylor, and Marcus Taylor; two sisters, Corine Holland of Cottonwood, AL, Anne Laura Ward of Asbury Park, NJ; three sister in-laws, Mary Jean Ward of Dothan, AL, Mary (Nathan) Cody of Cottonwood, AL, Barnita (Samuel) Merritt of Dothan, AL; two brothers, John Henry Ward of Cottonwood, AL, Curtis Ward of Cottonwood, AL; two brother in-laws, James Morris of Jonesboro, GA, and Jirah Daniels of Campbellton, FL; mother in-law, Maggie Capehart, Cottonwood, AL; best friends, Evan and Virginia Phillips of Midway, GA; a special friend Claudia Bland, Dothan, AL; his dog, Ranger and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,and friends who will miss him dearly
