Beverly Williams Life and Times

Beverly Jean Crawford-Williams, affectionally known as “Bev” was born on November 2nd, 1958, to late Fred and Lizzie Crawford in Union Springs, Alabama. She was born one of twelve, being the baby girl, and was spoiled by her older and younger siblings.

Beverly was educated in the Bullock County School System, maintained her “Hornet Pride” and graduated from Bullock County High School in 1977. At a young age, she devoted her life to Christ at the family church built by her father, Jones Chapel AME church in Omega, AL.  During her school years she met her husband, the late Artis Williams, who she later married in 1986. To this union, three children were born, Ashley, Anthony and Artisha Williams. She later continued her education with Trenholm State Technical College where she received her nursing degree Practical Nursing, began her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and became the hardest working woman in Bullock County.

Beverly devoted her time and skills to Southern Springs Health & Rehab providing quality and special care to the residents for over 20 years. She soon felt the need to give back to her community through children as she chose to become the school nurse for Bullock County Schools. Bev always felt that you had to pour into children as they were the future and need support from all avenues. As a school nurse, she began to connect with students, providing encouragement, strength and sometimes a light forward. This is where she gained her name, “Nurse” and was called so all around the community. She later added more experience to her arsenal and became a teacher with Bullock County Schools where she taught Health sciences at the Bullock County Career Technical Center. While teaching at the technical center, she felt the need to do even more with her students whom she lovingly called her kids. She soon became the athletic nurse for the football and basketball teams. While nursing and teaching, Bev received her Master of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Human Services. She didn’t stop her education there. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in Human Services from Walden University.

Beverly enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a pivotal part of raising her grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. Bev was the “favorite” of aunt for many of her nieces and nephews. Everyone loved Auntie Bev. She was a safe space for too many people to name. She is loved and cherished by more than just family and the best friend of many. Her philanthropic efforts were also momentous. She spearheaded a scholarship in honor of her son who preceded her in death, volunteered for many programs and donated thousands of dollars to those in need. Beverly never met a heart she couldn’t mend or soul she couldn’t save.

On May 31, 2026, at Baptist East in Montgomery, AL, at 10:28 a.m., Beverly transitioned from this life to join those she missed so dearly in eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters Ashley Sheaffer-Williams (Anthony Sheaffer) & Artisha Williams of Union Springs; five grandchildren, Karri (Union Springs), Zykerria, Jaylen, Jamarcus (Troy), Amaurion (Banks); 9 siblings, Willie James, Union Springs, AL, Maxine Hicks (Harry Hicks) Atlanta, GA, Della Murray (Wharton Murray) Marietta, GA, Susan Wheeler (Clarence Wheeler) Union Springs, AL, Alfred Crawford, Madison, AL, Robert Crawford (Beverly Chance Crawford), Union Springs, AL, Mark Crawford (Valerie Crawford) Atlanta, GA, Anthony Crawford (Valerie Crawford), Morrow, GA, Eric Crawford, Mobile, AL; 5 loved sister in laws Patricia Crawford, Union Springs, AL, Corra Crawford, Detroit, MI, Christine Williams, Union Springs, AL, Catherine Prittchet, Union Springs, AL and Angeline Robbins (Morris Robbins) McDonough, GA; two sister cousins Melody Crawford, Detroit, MI & Deborah Bursey, Union Springs, AL; four god children, Christopher Bethune, (Union Springs, AL), LaDerrick Caldwell, (Midway, AL), Najee Abdullah (Marietta, GA), and S.
