Ms. Betty Debose, age 85, of Union Springs, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021.
Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2021 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 313 Prairie Street N, Union Springs, Alabama 36089.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1 PM at Mount Hillard Church Cemetery in Union Springs, Alabama.
Betty Jean Debose was born January 1, 1936, to the late Richard Dubose and Mary Dubose, in Perote, Alabama. She was the first child of eight children. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Hillard Baptist Church, in Perote, Alabama, where she served many auxiliaries, under the leadership of the late Pastor Marshel Anglins.
Betty attended Perote High School and graduated with the class of 1960. Betty moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1961, and was employed with Burnair Hospital as a cook for ten years. Betty attended the nursing program at Los Angeles City College in 1963, where she received her nursing certificate and was employed as a nurse assistance, at Los Angeles County General Hospital. She retired in 2002.
Betty joined Praises of Zion Baptist Church in 1963 and remained a faithful member for 40 years.
Betty relocated back to Perote, Alabama, after her health declined and was cared for by her sisters. Betty stayed in touch with her family and friends and had a special bond with her sisters and brother. She stayed in close contact with them. Betty also had special contact with friends she grew up with. She called them on a regular basis as she did her sisters and brother.
A beautiful and caring life ended when Betty Jean Debose was called from labor to rest on May 6, 2021, at her home in Union Springs, Alabama.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Richard Dubose and Mary Belle Dubose; three sisters: Juliet Boone, Tessie Dubose, and Idell Anderson.
Betty leaves to cherish, three sisters: Willie M. Dubose, Cora Thornton both of Perote, Alabama and Annie Dubose of Los Angeles, California; one brother: Melvin Debose of Los Angeles, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
