Born on a brisk winter day, February 20, 1984, in Dothan, Alabama - Attrick Deon Dawsey entered this world bringing joy and warmth to his loving parents, Dwight Dawsey and Phyllis Hudspeth-Dawsey.
His journey began at Southeast Health Medical Center, and it was there in his hometown of Dothan that his remarkable story came to a peaceful close, enveloped by the love of his family and the comforting familiarity of home.
Attrick's life exemplified the profound influence to the power of faith and family. From a young age, he embraced Christianity and became a devoted member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church located in Webb, Alabama. His spiritual foundation shone through in his daily actions, as he lived his life with a loving spirit and a kindness that deeply touched all who crossed his path.
A radiant presence in his community, Attrick's laughter and energy were infectious. He attended Houston County High School in Columbia, Alabama where his passion for sports was evident on the basketball courts and football fields. He carried this enthusiasm throughout his life, as he delighted in the simple joys of cooking, dancing, traveling, singing, and watching college football. A fervent Miami Hurricanes fan, he shared his love for the game with his family and friends, creating lasting memories with every exhilarating play.
In his personal life, Attrick was a pillar of strength and love. Though we bid farewell to Attrick's physical presence, the essence of who he was remains eternally with us. His selfless nature, always prioritizing others before himself, and his kind heart have left an indelible mark on the world. Attrick's life story reminds us of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Through every smile he offered, every meal he prepared, and every moment spent with loved ones, Attrick succeeded in making life more joyful and easier for those around him.
On the morning of December 26, 2024, God called Attrick Deon Dawsey home to join His special angels. Predeceasing Attrick is his maternal grandfather: Eddie Lee “Pop” Hudspeth, and his paternal grandparents: Wiley Jethro Dawsey, Sr., and Thelma C. “Madea” Neal Dawsey.
He leaves a legacy of love through his four cherished children: Airyanah Dawsey, A’Javion Dawsey, Amaris Dawsey, and Jaleb Dawsey; his two sons-in-love: Dewayne, Jr., and DaMoni; his life partner: Shanteria Potter. His parents: Dwight (LaSundra) Dawsey and Phyllis (Todd Laster) Dawsey, will forever hold his memory dear, as will his maternal grandmother: Alice Mae Hudspeth. His siblings - Denarte Dawsey, Shequita (Rashund) Brown, Chekelia Dawsey, Satorious Dawsey, Dwight Thomas, Macheal (Jucenda) Holt, Trey Holt, Devonta Holt, and Koby Barkley - along with his nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and melancholy companions, will continue to feel his lasting influence.
In our hearts, Attrick Deon Dawsey will eternally embody what it means to live a life filled with love and service to others. His legacy will inspire us to pursue our dreams, treasure the moments with our loved ones, and spread kindness wherever we go. As we celebrate Attrick's life, let us carry forward the light he has left behind, illuminating the path for all who follow.
