Mrs. Annie Savage, age 84, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
Drive through visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2021 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11 AM at Parks Chapel AME Church, 1053 E Selma Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Crestlawn Cemetery.
Sister Annie Pearl Kirkland Grayson Savage was the third born to the late Richard and Annie Salter Kirkland, on March 26, 1937, in Houston County, Alabama.
She received her education in Houston County, Alabama; attending Ashford Colored High School and graduated from Carver High School.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. Annie Pearl united with Smithville Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend L.L. Brown. Upon marriage, she joined St. Mathis Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until marriage led her to unite with Parks Chapel AME Church.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late James Grayson and to this union two children were born: Barbara Diane and Phyllis Denise.
Later, she met and married Isaiah Savage, Jr. and gained four more children: Elmer, Evelyn, Milton, and Tommy.
She was a very loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, and mother affectionately known as "MeMe" by her grandchildren and many others.
Mrs. Savage was an Educator in the Dothan City School for over 30 years. She touched many children's lives during her tenure as a teacher.
God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to call such a sweet and beautiful soul home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Southeast Health.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Tennyson Kirkland, Sr., Edward Kirkland, and Jay B. Kirkland; two sisters: Dorothy Hollis Roberts and Willie Ruth Hollis; son-in-law: Milton Gaskin and sister-in-law: Pearlie Mae Ridgeway.
Annie Pearl leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: Isaiah Savage, Jr.; two daughters: Barbara (Bernard) Ward of Dothan, Alabama and Phyllis (Cameron) Glenn of Montgomery, Alabama; four grandchildren: Brian (Melanie) Ward of McDonough, Georgia, Brandon (Robbin) Ward of San Diego, California, Crystal Gaskin and Jeremy Gaskin of Montgomery, Alabama; five great grandchildren: Braya Ward, Brian Ward, Sunnie Ward, and Skylar Ward; sister-in-law: Evelyn Grayson Williams; four step children: Elmer (Jenny) Savage, Evelyn (Archie) Brown, Milton (Lori) Savage, and Tommy (Cheryl) Savage of California; special friends: Vernell Pullin and Yonne Lee; godson: Derrick Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
