Annie Ester McKay Morris was born on March 4, 1931, was the oldest of eight children to the late Green and Beatrice Glover McKay.
At an early age she joined and was baptized at Belview Baptist Church in Shorterville, Alabama and later joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Headland, Alabama.
She graduated from what was then Headland Colored High School in Headland, Alabama. Afterward she attended Alabama State College in Montgomery, Alabama and later moved to Cambria Heights, New York. After moving there she joined Shiloh Baptist Church in St. Albans, New York. She also studied and received certification for cardiovascular specialist from the American Cardiology Technologist Association and was employed by St. Francis Catholic Hospital in Roslyn, New York for 30 years. She met and married Calvin Morris. She was active in her church and community both when she was away and after she returned home. She rejoined Greater Shiloh in 1994 after her retirement and loved and supported both Pastor C.S. Pope and Pastor Delvick McKay. She was a member of the Deaconess Ministry here at Greater Shiloh and an avid supporter of the local and District State conventions.
She is past Worthy Matron of Woods Choice Chapter Order of Eastern Star #356 Headland; a former member of the Golden Circle; a member of Ladies Aide Missionary Society #21, Headland; and the mother of the Ladies Aide Juvenile Department Grand Union. She was blessed to live in retirement for 31 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings: Carl, James, Lois, and Glovers McKay.
She leaves to cherish her memories a brother: Clifton McKay; two sisters: Vonceail Graves and Wylene Thompson; several nieces and nephews most of whom affectionately called her “Doc”; several beloved cousins and friends.
