Born 10 January 1977 in Dothan, Alabama, Amika was a woman of resilience and undeniable spirit. She lived her life with purpose, passion, and deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the world.
Amika was a proud graduate of Northview High School Class of 1995. She also attended Wallace Community College and Troy University. She was a member of Burdeshaw Street Baptist Church and visited Grace Community Church when she visited Dothan, AL and fellowshipped with her mother and stepfather.
For 20 years, Amika faithfully served as a train dispatcher with CSX Railroad, where she became known for her professionalism, patience, and genuine care of others. Her colleagues remember her not only for her strong work ethic, but for the warmth and kindness she extended to everyone she encountered. Throughout her tenure with CSX, she was afforded the opportunity to live in Baltimore, Maryland and Jacksonville, Florida.
In addition to her career at CSX, she proudly served in the United States Navy as an IT Specialist. Her duty stations included Naples, Italy, Norfolk, Virgina, and Chicago.
Beyond her career, Amika had a true love for travel. She found joy in exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating unforgettable memories along the way. Whether it was a weekend getaway or a long-awaited vacation, she embraced every journey with excitement and curiosity. These trips included quality time with her mother and sister, as every year they dedicated a week-long trip for bonding. Having a true passion for traveling and immersing herself in different cultures. She especially loved visiting museums, where she could take in history, art, and stories from around the world. Whether walking through exhibits or exploring new cities, she found joy in every journey and never stopped learning.
She had a passion for cooking and serving her mother anytime she was visiting.
She was a woman who cherished her family deeply. Her love was unconditional, her laughter was contagious, and her presence brought comfort to all who knew her. She was the heart of every gathering and the voice of wisdom in times of need. An avid sports fan you could always catch her cheering on her favorite teams Baltimore Ravens, Auburn Tigers, and the Los Angeles Lakers, a super fan of Lebron James.
Amika departed this life on March 17, 2026 in Jacksonville, Florida at Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Fields of Orange Park, Florida, Shirley Small of Atlanta, Georgia, and Essie Saffold Bryant (Wayne) of Orlando, Florida: a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Letoya Saffold, father, Isaiah Saffold; grandparents: Jimmie and Willie Bell Small, Dennis and Versie Saffold; aunts and uncles: Saletha Small, Emma Small, Ruthie Saffold, Frank Small, Bobby Small, Ernest Small, Jimmie Small, Jr., Dennis Saffold, D.C. Saffold, Lonnie Saffold, James Elbert; cousins. Keith Small, Justin Small, Aaron Small, and Bobby Lucas.
Though she is no longer with us physically, her legacy of love, strength, and adventure will live on in all who were blessed to know her
