Alma Lois Jackson Lewis, a beacon of love and warmth in the Ashford community, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on October 30, 1947 - she was the cherished daughter of the late Willie Frank Jackson and the late Mary Young Jackson. Alma's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, a value she held dearly from her childhood days to her last.
On January 31, 1965, Alma's life was beautifully intertwined with Cecil L. Lewis, the "Love of her Life," in Holy Matrimony. Their partnership was blessed with four children, each a reflection of their shared love and commitment. Alma's legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted son, Phillip Lewis of Ashford, AL; her two daughters, Regina (Zaye) Galloway of Dothan, AL, and Luegina (Marlon) Williams of Ashford, AL; and her adored grandchildren, Dashon Butler, Desiree Lewis, Tavion Lewis, Terrance Franklin, Tiana Franklin, and Amari Williams. Her joy was multiplied with the arrival of seven great-grandchildren: London Aguilar, Kinsley Butler, Paisleigh Reynolds, Naomi Sullivan, Ramona Stewart, Terrell Stewart, and Kyrie Stewart. Alma's memory will also be cherished by her three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who became family over the years.
Alma's professional life was as diverse and vibrant as her personality. She was a dedicated employee at West Tex and Michelin Tire, where her strong work ethic and infectious smile were well-known. Guided by her passion for cooking, Alma and her husband Cecil opened "Lois's Kitchen," a restaurant that soon became a hub of community and good food. Her culinary skills were not just a profession but a way of bringing people together, a legacy that will be savored by all who knew her.
Family was the cornerstone of Alma's world. She poured her heart into every family gathering, eagerly anticipating the annual "Jackson-Gosha Family Reunion," a celebration that was particularly special to her. These reunions were more than just events; they were a tapestry of memories and the foundation of a legacy that will continue for generations. Alma's love for her family was as boundless as the joy she found in their company.
