Agnes Christine Culver Salter was the first of six children born to the late Mary Agnes Weems Culver in Henry County, Alabama on January 27, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Sammy Salter, Sr., children – Michael, Sammy, Jr., Jacqueline, and Adam; her mother: Mary Agnes Culver; two brothers: Marvin Culver, Jr. and John Culver; two sisters: Susie Mae Daniels and Gwendolyn Underwood.
She departed this life on Friday, July 6, 2024, at the age of 78.
Christine joined Rocky Mount Missionary Baptist Church in Abbeville, Alabama, where she regularly attended until her health declined. She attended Newville Rosenwald High School in Newville, Alabama.
She married Sammy Salter, Sr. early in life and moved to Dothan, Alabama. With this union, five children (Micheal, Sammy, Jr., Jacqueline, Ricky and Adam) were born.
Christine enjoyed a variety of employment opportunities including working at the Swedish Match factory for a brief time and then at VendServ where she worked for over 30 years.
She loved cooking, spending time with her family, and attending church when she could. She also loved watching her favorite tv shows – “Law and Order” and “In the Heat of the Night”.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son: Ricky (Betty) Salter of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren: Keyerra Salter and Camillia Salter of Dothan, Alabama, great-grandchildren Xavier Melendez, Deandrae Jenkin, Deryus Salter, Darius Salter and Jenesis Bonner of Dothan, Alabama; great- great-grandchild Khelani Salter of Dothan, Alabama; her sister: Corinne Salter of Headland, Alabama; daughter-in-law: Jackie Salter of Dothan, Alabama; sister-in-law: Alice Salter of Dothan, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
