Mr. Willie Cope-Harris affectionately known as “Rooster” was born December 14, 1933 in Goshen, Alabama to the late Amy Robinson and Romie Harris, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Gussie B. (Joe) Boyd, Amy (James) Perry and Lillie (Willie Frank) Ivey; brothers: Robert ( Lillie Mae) Cope and Samuel David (Verna Dean) Harris.
At an early age, Willie accepted Christ at the Town Creek Church of God in Christ in Goshen, Alabama. He attended church faithfully with his parents, siblings and cousins.
Willie was educated in the Pike and Macon County School Systems. He was known by his classmates and friends as an over achiever. In high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school, he wanted to travel and explore the world. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for numerous years. Willie loved helping and serving others, therefore; he attended college and earned a degree in Social Work. Willie was known for his contagious smile and gentle spirit. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
On January 21, 2019, Willie made his transition from this life, to his heavenly home. Ecclesiastes 12:7 - Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
He lives to cherish his memories three sisters: Gussie (Ollie) Welch of Tuskegee, Alabama; Sallye (Tommy) Bonner and Dorothy (Earl) Finney both of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother: Larry Salter Harris of Cincinnati, Ohio. A very special maternal cousin Ella Mae Robinson Johnson of Union Springs, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
