Stephen Colvin Life and Times

The Gift of Life
Stephen Elliot Colvin was born November 29, 1977 in Montgomery, AL to John and Ann Colvin. As a child, he attended New Providence Baptist Church in Ramer, AL. He later joined Burdeshaw Street Missionary Baptist Church in Dothan, AL. Stephen continued to fellowship with New Providence Baptist Church.

The Professional Life
Stephen was educated in Montgomery County School System where he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL) in Chemistry with a minor in Math. While at the University of Alabama he pledged Kappa Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. After graduation, he was employed by Aventis Bio-Services as Center Manager and International Bio-Resources as a Center Quality Supervisor in Tuscaloosa, AL and later transferred to New Orleans, LA. He enrolled in the Master’s program at the University of New Orleans but completing his degree at Troy University (Dothan, AL) receiving his Master’s in Business Administration. Stephen was employed by Southern Nuclear and he held the following positions: Chemistry Technician, Chemical Manager, Chemical Supervisor, Acting Chemical Manager, and Acting Safety Coordinator. His current position was Chemical Superintendent. Stephen was employed by Southern Company for 13 1/2 years. While working Stephen’s passion for entrepreneurship began and Stephen and Sametha open Angel’s Childcare Academy with two locations serving the Dothan and Midland City area. Angel’s childcare has served this local community for 13 years. Stephen had another desire for entrepreneurship, he had a desire to bring something new to the city is when he also opened The Uptown. The Uptown has served the local community for three years.

The Enjoyment of Life
Stephen and Sametha have two beautiful children: Step and CJ who he devoted his life to faithfully. Stephan was big fan of The Alabama Crimson Tide and last season wanted his family to experience game day and they enjoyed a family day of football. He loved to grill and fish. As his professional life grew, Stephen always made time for his family, by making family fun night every Tuesday, watching movies, popping popcorn, and playing board games.

The Eternal Life
Stephen entered into the eternal arms of Jesus Christ on 16 April 2019 in Columbia, AL.

Stephen was preceded in death by two uncles, Lawrence Colvin and Nathaniel Reed, a brother-in-law, Frank Small, and two sisters-in-law Emma Small and Seletha Small.
