Oscar Carroll Life and Times

Mr. Oscar Carroll, age 90, of Ozark, Alabama passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2020 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11 AM at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 336 Florence Street Newton, Alabama 36352.

Burial will immediately follow the service at the church cemetery.

Mr. Carroll began his life in Ozark, Alabama.  His birth parents were Oscar Carroll, Sr. and Daisy Sistrunk Carroll.  Due to circumstances and GOD's Will, he was given into the hands of Cas and Lena Long when he was an infant.  They were the best and most caring parents that anyone could ever have.  He was nurtured in the house with Cas and Lena and J.C. and Donnie B.

By the time he entered the public school system, he had been exposed to learning by teachers boarding at the Long household.  His love and great accomplishment, as a youth, was the game of basketball; where he made the first team as a freshman.  He graduated high school and entered into the US Army.  Upon his discharge from the military, he went to Cleveland, Ohio.  He found employment with the General Accounting Office, National Aeronautics and Space Administration.  He, then, topped off his career in the federal government with the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  A few years after he retired, he came back home to Ozark, Alabama; where he resided until GOD almighty called him home.

He will be remembered as a person that would challenge you with his thoughts about how he saw the world!  He loved Antioch Baptist Church; which he attended during his formative years and returned once his working career ended.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Oscar and Daisy Carroll and Cas and Lena Long; his brothers: Lunnie Carroll, Arnie Carroll, Buddy Carroll, Donnie B. Long and J.C. Long; sisters: Carlis Edwards, Letha Mae, Voncile Huffman, Vinnie Mae, Nettie Pearl and Jessie Mae Cunningham; a grandson: Ronald Hamilton, Jr. and a great grandson: Terry Conner.

He is survived by four children: Larry (Charlean) Carroll of Texas, Michael (Bonita) Carroll of Ohio, Gwendolyn Montez Carroll of North Carolina and June Carroll Brooks of Alabama; eleven grandchildren: Charles Wayne Hunter, Ashley Charlean Carroll, Monique Violet Carroll, Shelia Charvol Carroll, Larry Jorckeam Carroll, Sharieka Nicole Ryans (Terrence), Jon Kelvin Mcleod ( Felicia), Kenneth Michael Brooks, Tia J. Anselme (Ahmad), Michael Alden Carroll and Bryan MacKenzie Carroll; and twenty great grandchildren: Katelyn, Jordan, Lauryn, Joshua, Mila, Larry, Payton, Alaina, Kennedy, Ahnyah, Amare, Alayah, Ahbrae, Anthony, Zariel, Ava, Jada, Jaden, Carmine and Cameron.
