Mr. Obie Poke, age 77 of Dothan, AL passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2019 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 11:00 AM at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 4850 County Road 73, Newville, Alabama.
Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
Obie Lee Poke was born on June 18, 1942 in Newville, Alabama to the late Darby and Inez Poke. He departed his earthly home to his heavenly home on September 22, 2019.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at a very early age in Newville, Alabama. He later joined Unity Missionary Baptist in El Paso, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Darby and Inez Poke; son: Cody Poke; three brothers: Jr. Robinson, Joe Poke, and Willie Earl Poke; one sister: Christine Poke Bond; and one grandson: Frederick Dennis Poke, Jr.
Obie leaves to honor and cherish his memories his wife: Margaret Lee Poke of Stone Mountain, Georgia; one son: Frederick (Judy) Poke of El Paso, Texas; two daughters: Vicky ( Rev. Roosevelt) Wright of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Zandra (Rev. Felix, Sr.) Nelson of Columbus, Georgia; one daughter-in-law: Crystal Poke of Riverdale, Georgia; one brother: James Willis (Cassandra) Poke; five sisters: Sarah Whitehurst, Viola (Robert) Hardaway, Iolo (Roy, Jr.) Whigham, Catherine (Amos) River, Virginia (Bobby Charles); Aunt Victoria Jennings; nine grandchildren: Tynikki (Timothy) Andrews, Treopia (Antonio) Kingsberry, Jackie Nolan, Edward (Sally) Poke, Marquita Nelson, Felix Nelson, Jr., Dominique (Rollie) Price, Calvin and Caleb; four brother-in-law: Danny (Doe) Lee, Elder Charlie Henderson, Sammy Thomas and Leon Culver; one sister-in-law: Ella Hamilton, 16 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
