Nettie Calhoun

Mrs. Nettie Calhoun, age 83, of Union Springs, Alabama passed away Friday, July 26, 2019.  Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Allen's Funeral Home, 313 N Prairie Street Union Springs, Alabama 36089.  Funeral service will be Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11 AM at Mt. Silla Baptist Church, 409 W Locke Avenue Union Springs, Alabama 36089.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Mason Cemetery in Union Springs, Alabama.

Mrs. Nettie Beatrice Moultrie Calhoun was born on August 25, 1935, in Union Springs, Alabama to the late Johnny Bernard Moultrie, Sr. and Martha Bronson Moultrie.

Nettie B. accepted Christ at the age of twelve and joined the MT. Silla Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and loved her church family and church membership. She remained faithful until her health failed her.

Nettie B. graduated from Carver High School. She attended vocational having as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She worked at The Magnolia Haven Nursing Facility in Tuskegee, AL and retired from The Veteran's Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her mother and fathers, brothers: Johnny B. Moultrie, Jr. and Richard L. Moultrie, Sr,. sister-in-law: Loretta W. Moultrie, Sr., granddaughter: Montvia Murry and husband: Rev. James Calhoun.

She  leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Nadine Moultrie and Martha Fitzpatrick (Sanders), one son: Louis Murry (Diane); one sister: Sarah M. Coleman (Lennis, Jr.); three sisters-in-law: Gloria S. Moltrice, Johnnie Mae Burt and Effie Jean Lyons; three brother-in-laws: Johnny L. Calhoun, Morris Calhoun (Diane) and Melvin Calhoun; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to her cousin: Elizabeth Copeland and Veronica N. Howard, family and friends.
