Ms. Mallie Simmons, age 81,of Dothan, Alabama passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11 AM at Georgette L. Scott's Memorial Chapel, 814 Headland Avenue Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Mallie was born October 18, 1938 to the late Annie Mae Lynn and the late Clarence Charles Wright. She as the middle of three children, the late Mary Pearl Rutledge and the late Otis Charles Beechum.
She was a devoted mother, aunt, and grandmother. Anyone who knew her, knows that her favorite colors were pink and red and her favorite hymn was Amazing Grace. Nicknamed "sister" very early in her life, she had a calling to nurture. She raised many as her own. She believed that as long as she had food and shelter, nobody would be hungry or homeless. While Mallie had no church home, she did have an intimate relationship with God.
She joins in rest her parents; siblings; and two daughters: Brenda G. Bryant and Sherrel G. Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memories three children: Rena Baker of Newark, NJ, Clabon Scott and Shaquan Muhammed of Los Angeles, CA; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and three special nieces: Catherine Greene, Shantina Williams and Yolanda Lynn; longtime friend: Sarah Coleman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
