James Robert "Cooter" Rhodes heard, "Well done thy good thy faithful servant", on October 26, 2017 at the age of 79.
James was born in Headland, Alabama to the late Seaborn Rhodes and Nora Pierce Rhodes.
James spent his early years tending to his farm and family with his first wife, Annie Lois Rhodes. James moved to New York City where he lived with his second wife, the late Ruth Turner. There he could continue to serve the Lord as a Deacon of his church. After the passing of Mrs. Ruth, he moved back home to Alabama.
James loved playing dominoes with friends, Billy Severson and James Junior Ward. James Robert will forever be remembered his love of the Lord, kindness and loving spirit. He loved fishing and he did not meet an animal that he would not want to eat.
James married Annie Lois Rhodes at the age of 24; bringing forth three children: Cheryl, Larry and Lisa.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Seaborn Lee Rhodes and Nora Lee Pierce Rhodes; siblings: Earl Rhodes, William Rhodes, Jessie Lee Rhodes and O.C. Rhodes.
His memories will be cherished by Annie Lois Rhodes and children: Cheryl Dinkins of Columbia, South Carolina, Larry Earl Rhodes and wife Joyce and Lisa Smith and busband Kenneth; nine grandchildren: Latoria Young of Crestivew, Florida, Dewayne Rhodes, columbia, SC, Michael Rhodes of Dothan, Alabama, Jermony Rhodes of Dothan, Alabama, Robert Dinkins, Jr of Columbia, South Carolina, Aaron Rhodes of Headland, Alabama, Brittany Rhodes of Dothan, Alabama, Natalia Buggs all of Dothan, Alabama and Jazzman Smith of Dothan, Alabama; fifteen great grandchildren; one great god grandchild; one stepdaughter; two step grandchildren; eleven sisters-in-law; eight brothers-in-law; he also leaves behind a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
