Mr. Harold Baxter, age 83, of Newville, Alabama passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 1 PM at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery.
Harold affectionately called "Joe" was born on December 11, 1935 in Newville, Alabama. He was the first of eight children born to the late Homer T. and Ellen Hollis Baxter.
He attended the public school of Newville Rosenwald High School. Harold accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior during his early childhood.
Mr. Baxter departed his earthly life on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Ft. Gaines Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a devout member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Joe graduated from Newville Rosenwall School in Newville, Alabama and later met and married Mary Eva Baxter, together they had two daughters: Mary Ella (Mae Ella) Baxter and Debra (Niecy) McLemore-Baxter.
Following in his father's footsteps, Joe went on to work and retire from Howell Plywood Mill. His pastimes were spent fishing, watching baseball and enjoying time with his beloved children and grandchildren. Joe grew up full of laughter and was known for his quick wit and quirkry jokes.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; three brothers: Robert, Phillip and Johnny; his sister: Lalah Motely; and a son: Harlold Carter.
Joe is survived by his two daughters: Mary and Debra; goddaughter: Felicia Barber; grandchildren: Apryl Lewis, Tiffany (Alan) Baker, Rachael (Roderick) Taylor, Ricky McLemore abnd Sandra McLemore; great grandchildren: Nala, Javian, Zoie, Alani, Alana, Nicholas, Alan III, Sienna; three sisters: Mary B. Hicks, Elnora Washington and Daisy Baxter-Glass; and a host of nieces, nephews, special friend: Maerene Walker and her grandaughter and extended family.
